Literature Text

fingernails slithering across shoulder blades;
a shiver of a different kind.
oh, the possibilities. your mind swims.
deep within the current, she carries you away.
lost inside decadent thoughts with her
poison-laced lips hovering above your ear.
the warmth, it caresses;
enticed, eyes flutter closed,
and she carries you away.

what words she speaks depends upon
the moon, the stars, the alignment of the planets.
yet, she whispers them just the same.
her voice soft; her intentions less than noble,
but who cares? oh, for more words.
take me with you, you beg.
her lips find your neck and she leaves
crimson stains upon your shirt collar.
take me with you, you speak once more
into the fire of the moment.

she promises you pleasures
your mind has yet to fashion, offering them
on a silver platter. turn around; you turn around.
to taste those honey lips and drown in
kisses rich like wine, with chocolate
cascading into your mouth.
as decadent as blood to a vampire.
you can sense the groan before it
emanates into the air and yet,
when you offer your lips in return,
she turns her head and suddenly you see it.

oh muse, you live only to entice and
never to romance.
you live to dangle your affections like
candy to a child, and yet
you never consummate the pleasures
you promise in your demonic tongues.
but writer, fair writer, you shall yet turn around
to gaze into her eyes, seeing the
capricious soul underneath
and beg her for those warm embraces.

carry me away, sweet muse,
please carry me away.
something penned over on my myspace page. a friend and i were commiserating, her saying her male muse and my female muse ran off together, leaving us destitute. mine was called a "muse of convenience" and thus was this poem born.

mythological representations of our creativity aside, i do hope i can write a bit more today. i miss being in the thick of a story.

here's to writer's block. :drunk:
