Literature Text

one

i walked along lonely streets
with a lit cigarette in hand.
attempting to find it all.
the center of the city;
the dead souls that seem to
keep calling me.
tell me, as you waited for her
did she ever arrive?

two

“god in his wisdom took you by the hand
god in his wisdom helped you understand.”

since you know better than most now...
... is there truly a god?

three

i once owned unknown pleasures
on vinyl.
at times, i miss
placing a needle on the spinning
large, black disc and listening
to the popping,
the crackling, the bumps.
i always thought that was
part of the ambiance of the music.
perhaps the ghosts
attempting to sing along.

four

love will tear us apart.
but at times, it mends us as well.
i am sorry
you never knew what this was like
while you were alive.
we tortured souls
do not often know how to accept
such a thing.

five

when i am walking alone
on the city streets
with a lit cigarette
i still mutter the lyrics to
“shadowplay”
underneath my breath.
tell me, as you waited for her
did she ever arrive?

six

since you know better than most now...
... is there truly a god?

or are we just alone
in this colony?
one of the forms for the "december forms challenge" being coordinated by *kiwi-damnation. ([link]) this one is called an "epistle" which is pretty self-explanatory if you have ever attended a bible class. "epistle" means letter and this poetic form is a letter (or several short letters) to a specific person.

more on it here: [link]

could not think of anybody i would write to that i could not see face-to-face, until i thought of ian curtis. have always felt some sort of connection toward him. the brooding, pensive outlook on life, i suppose. if you are not a joy division fan, there might be several references in here that will fly over your head. ^^;
i tried to at least make it accessible, in a general sense.

not sure this is my best, but it was an interesting exercise just the same.

Really sad, once saw somebody wearing an Unknown Pleasures t-shirt. I complimented them on it and said, "I didn't know you liked their music."
They said: "I didn't know it was a band, I just thought it looked good."
Sad times.

This is brilliant. I particularly love Three about the vinyl. Quite agree :)
