Literature Text

another desolate winter morning.
gray skies have not held color in some time.
cold winds blow to snatch
one’s breath away,
stealing more than just the warmth from the air.
stealing more than just the comfort from a soul.

one solitary snowflake hits the ground.

the trees devoid of leaves.
the parks devoid of people, they all
retreated inward to the fires,
to the arms of lovers waiting for them.
fortunate fools who have a lover.
fortunate fools who never have to be alone.

one solitary snowflake hits the ground.

seasons never meant to carry on
for months bleeding into years,
for extended points in time, and yet,
here i am, once again, alone.
sometimes i sense my heart about to falter.
sometimes i sense my life about to slip into the abyss

no man was meant to be an island.

yet one solitary snowflake hits the ground.
never fear, nothing wrong with me at the present. ;)

penned this in response to =jusuart's loneliness awareness campaign. more information on this journal: [link]

i may not be there now, but i have been there.

I like the comparison. How unusual it is to see a single snowflake, and how lonely we feel as people when we don't have a companion. Even snowflakes tend to travel in groups.
